Time Warner Cable says that the company has begun its "Maxx" TV and broadband upgrades in the Dallas area. According to a company announcement, Dallas area customers should start being notified this week regarding which areas will be first in line for the improvements. As in previous Time Warner Cable Maxx markets, users will see improved TV services as well as deployment of 300 Mbps down, 20 Mbps up Docsis 3.0 upgrades.

With TWC Maxx, we re essentially reinventing the TWC experience, said Ike Wells, TWC s regional vice president of operations for Texas. We will boost Internet speeds for customers up to six times faster, add to Dallas robust TWC WiFi, dramatically improve the TV product and set a high bar in our industry for differentiated, exceptional customer service."

Time Warner Cable has its work cut out for it: the company is often tied for last place with Comcast for the very worst customer service not only in the broadband and TV industries -- but in any industry.

In addition to the new 300 Mbps tier (replacing the previous 50 Mbps offering), the company's "Standard" 15 Mbps customers will get bumped to 50/5 Mbps, "Turbo" customers will move from 20 Mbps to 100/10 Mbps, and "Extreme" customers will see a bump from 30 Mbps to 200/20 Mbps.

The following areas are first in line for the upgrades:

Addison, Allen, Arlington, Bedford, Carrollton, Cedar Hill, Cockrell Hill, Colleyville, Commerce, Coppell, Dallas, DeSoto, Double Oak, Euless, Farmers Branch, Farmersville, Flower Mound, Frisco, Garland, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Greenville, Highland Village, Hutchins, Irving, Kennedale, Lancaster, Lewisville, McKinney, Mesquite, Murphy, Pantego, Plano, Princeton, Richardson, Rockwall, Rowlett, Sachse, St. Paul, Sunnyvale, The Colony and Wylie.
The company recently stated that 75% of its footprint should see the upgrades by the end of 2016 -- assuming the Comcast acquisition doesn't disrupt that process.
