In not exactly surprising sales news, Adele’s ’21’ has been confirmed as the biggest-selling artist album so far this millennium, in the UK at least.
The follow-up to ’19’ – which itself is the 27th biggest seller – has ‘shifted’ nearly 4,740,000 copies since its release in 2011.
To put that in context, 4.7m also people watched Masterchef the other week.
Back to the music and in second place is Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ with 3.5m, which is ahead of James Blunt’s ‘Back To Bedlam’ (3.3m), Leona Lewis’ ‘Spirit’ (3.1m) and Dido’s ‘No Angel’.
In fact, if you’re into long lists of albums and artists then the full thing can be viewed on the Official Charts Company’s website.
WARNING: It’s bad news for Joe McElderry.
